A DedicationThe 28th Annual Seattle International Seattle Stand Up Comedy Competition is dedicated to the memory of Seattle comedy pioneer Laura Crocker. Laura was one of the handful of folks who called themselves the Seattle Independent Comedy Coop, who, in 1980, produced the very first Seattle Comedy Competition. Laura became a driving force in the Seattle comedy scene; among her accomplishment was creating the very first paying gigs for local comics. Affectionately known as the "Den Mother to Seattle Comedians, " she was affiliated with this Competition for nearly 20 years. Laura Crocker passed away at age 50 on July 28, 2007. We are pleased to honor her memory.
