Another sold-out show, and definitely the most lively audience so far. . .hot from the very start. The Theater had a display of pictures that had Mr. Globie photoshopped in, hilarious. As were the comics. Even the guy who was "hackling" was funny. Ish. Told me he was "good hackling, not bad hackling."
Looking forward to going back next Thursday Nov 12 with 16 more comics. Hey South King County - tickets are still available - better get 'em while you can!

On this night, the honor goes to Toronto's Matt Billon--allowing us to take some temporary pride in the "International" part of our name. Go Canada!
A packed house of wine-loving Auburnians braved the Pacific Northwest monsoon season to come out and enjoy some comedy. And BOY, did they enjoy themselves tonight. Every comic received the encore point--an entire point added to a comic's score based solely on whether or not the audience made it known that they would love to see that comic do more comedy for them--and, more importantly, every comic deserved to receive the encore point. This was a hot crowd in a cold and wet town.
The fact that this night was designated as a "TV Clean" night, which was designed to challenge the competitors by forcing them to re-imagine their comedy through the standards of broadcast network television before 11pm, didn't seem to be much of an issue for either the comedians' ability to generate their laughs or the audience's enjoyment of what these comedians were presenting to them.
All in all, a great night of comedy, top to bottom...and while it would be great if everybody could claim ownership of the Top Five positions, that isn't how the competition works.
Making the Top Five for the first time so far in the competition is Seattle's own Brian Boshes. In doing so, he kept Boston's Josh Gondelman from making HIS first Top Five finish...as Josh finished a mere one tenth of a point behind Brian on this night.
The overall standings are still close, although a few strong candidates consistently making the Top Five have emerged--it is still too early for any comic to start making their hotel reservations or travel plans for the semi-finals just yet. Three more shows to go.
And to the fine people of Auburn, the competition returns on Thursday night for another great night of comedy--this time, with the comedians in Preliminary Week Two! If we aren't all washed away by these incessant rains, we will see you all there, then!
