SICC-33: Our long drive to Longview was TOTALLY worth it!

It had been three years since the Seattle International Comedy Competition had last performed at the beautiful Columbia Theatre in Longview, Washington.  We were welcomed back with a venue that has a much improved back of house area and an appreciative audience of over 300 who thoroughly enjoyed all of the performers on this fifth night of Preliminary Week Two.

There was a little drama to start the night–as the comics and judges thought the show started at 7:30pm when it was actually scheduled to start at 7pm.  Nobody panicked…and everyone managed to be where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there.

Other than that, it was a pretty smooth sailing night…  Well, except for when we began to announce the Nightly Top 5 and none of the comics were in earshot.  But, OTHER THAN THAT…it all went great!

Our judges voiced their opinion…and they decided to shake up the Nightly Top 5 just a little bit.  Familiar faces like Paul Varghese, Solomon Georgio and Ryan Clauson barely missed making the podium tonight…while Cory Michaelis made his first Nightly Top 5.

Props also to Scott Losse and Pedja Bajovic for their best placements this week!

(And thanks to Gian and everyone at the Columbia Theatre for providing a wonderful venue and for helping us come up with a workable plan to make certain the show came off without a hitch.  Showbiz!!!  Definitely think it won’t be another three years before we come back!)

SICC-33 Preliminary Week Two-Show Five Nightly Top 5

L-R: Xung Lam (host), Tyrone Hawkins (2nd), Ria Lina (4th), Cory Michaelis (3rd), Landry (1st)
NOT PICTURED: Joe Klocek (5th)

Preliminary Week Two-Night Five  Nightly Top 5

1)  Landry (Atlanta, GA/Toronto, ON)
2)  Tyrone Hawkins (Tacoma, WA)
3)  Cory Michaelis (Everett, WA)
4)  Ria Lina (London, UK)
5)  Joe Klocek (San Francisco, CA)

And that definitely bunches up things near the top of the weekly standings with only one more show left to go.  Who will make it through this week, filled with brilliant performances by all sixteen of our participants, to earn their way into the Semi-Finals (to join the Top 5 from Preliminary Week One)?

We’ll find out tonight with the last show of this week taking place at one of our favorite venues–Laughs Comedy Spot, Kirkland!  And you should be there to see it all happen!

NEXT SHOW:
