The drive from Seattle to Pt. Townsend, WA, on the northeast coast of the Olympic Peninsula, has to be one of the most scenic routes in America. Ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston in late afternoon, with the sun peaking through over Puget Sound and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. Then Agate Passage, Hood Canal, past Egg and I Road, and finally adorable, Victorian Pt. Townsend itself.
The Upstage is beautiful gem of a restaurant/club, with a grand piano, balcony on 3 sides, 2 patios decorated with strings of lights (nice for smokers only on this chilly breezy evening). Holds about 100 people with a shoehorn.
Placed was packed, people sitting on the stairs. Don't tell the fire marshal.
The busy-ness definitely favored the bigger, louder comics, although some- not all - of the soft-talkers captured the audience's full attention.
When all was said and done, the top 5 contained 3 returnees and 2 new additions.
