Seattle International Comedy Competition

Week 4: Paul Ogata

Paul Ogata

Los Angeles, CA

As a kid, Paul Ogata, played on the Honolulu City Parks & Recreation division championship basketball team, the "Blue Bombers." Then, when everyone else continued growing, Paul forsook playing sports for staying indoors and listening to comedy albums. Realizing he'd never have the biggest muscles or the fastest legs, Paul set about working on getting the biggest laughs with the fastest wit.

Today, it's all paying off. Paul's material centers around his Japanese-American upbringing and his recent marital foibles. Paul funnels all of his material through an animated and quick delivery to give the audience a non-stop roller coaster ride through his stream of consciousness.

Paul was the winner of the 2007 San Francisco Comedy Competition and was voted "Funniest Asian in America" in the nationwide Take Out Comedy Competition, defeating competitors from coast to coast. Also, Paul has taken his comedy to film and television, having appeared in Damon Wayans' film "Behind the Smile", on CBS' "The Late Late Show" as well as on TBS, NBC and PBS.
