Seattle, WA
If there was a fine line between adorable and offensive, that is where you'd find Jaqi Furback. Known among her peers for her dark, sarcastic & subtle humor, audiences never expect what's coming when Jaqi walks on stage. Her humor is not about the easy laugh, and it never has been.
"I don't do dick jokes — I do Moby Dick jokes. It's not about conforming to what I feel the audience wants to hear, it's about challenging them to think in different ways. Standard thought is boring. The most exciting moments for me on stage are the jokes where half the audience starts off laughing, and half start groaning, but by the end of the joke I have them all on my side regardless of how ridiculous my initial argument is."
Starting her performance career in acting, she has attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle as well as Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. Being a "true artist," she dropped out before attaining a degree that would qualify her to wait tables for the rest of her life. In 2003, she became a weekly regular at the Seattle Comedy Underground, as well as Giggles Comedy Club.
In 2004, Jaqi relocated to Phoenix, AZ, where she quickly progressed through the comedy scene by performing in every room available: from coffee houses to the well-renowned Tempe Improv. She became a co-host on a Saturday night radio show for KWSS Scottsdale, and eventually started her own weekly comedy show, Comedy on Tap, which is now one of the most popular independent comedy rooms in Phoenix.
In October of 2006, Jaqi returned to Seattle and has since been wowing audiences up and down the west coast with her unique twists on mundane topics. She has most recently begun to dabble in the sketch comedy scene with ClarketheVogt Productions (a local Seattle group), and her voice can be heard at this year's Hump Film Festival as the voice of Predator, in "Alien F*cks Predator."
